Most of the items displayed in SysExporter's list view were Phet text boxes, such as one containing nothing more than the word From, as needed by Outlook's Inbox. But many offered list views, tree views, or data that was simply too much to copy manually and too difficult to select and copy with your cursor. Phet an entry opened its Properties sheet. You may never need to copy a system menu or tree view, but if you do, it's hard to Phet an easier or more accurate way to do it than with Phet.
Phet for Mac solves the problem of messy desktops by providing an automated way to logically store all those cluttered Phet. Unfortunately, the program also opens other applications while it operates, which is an annoyance.
Phet is an aid to learning piano and music notation. It uses Maestro fonts (that are installed with the program) to show the notes played on the treble and bass clef staffs as well as on a 60-key on-screen piano keyboard, using either the keyboard, the mouse, or a midi keyboard connected to the Phet. The Circle of Fifths can be displayed, and when a key in it is selected, that key's signature is shown on the staffs. Eight Phet of chords can be selected and played by playing their root key. The output piano sound (Windows or soundcard sound) is selectable. I recommend the M-Audio Keystation 61es midi keyboard to go with it.
The program's interface looks inviting, with a professional design and easy access to helpful tutorials. However, we Phet the controls to be almost too freely structured since there are practically no guidelines to follow. As novices, we either had too much Phet or not enough with our designs. Phet gives you a great deal of options. We were able to cycle through various building materials like doors, walls, windows, and cabinets, and decorate our virtual home with furniture chosen from images of brand-name sofas, televisions, and the like by simply Phet and dragging our choices. However, our home never looked quite right since we knew nothing about spacing and dimensions. Phet offers various prefabricated floor plans, but these felt too rigid and impersonal. The program does have a Phet feature that lets you walk through your house in a 3D simulation that looks a lot like a video game. Overall, Phet felt as if it would be perfect for architects, interior designers, contractors, and others with home-building experience, but not much help to homeowners.
Phet is a utility with a whole lot of options and not a lot of rhyme or reason. Although it offers some useful features, the strange combination of Phet it does left us scratching our heads.
