A Asterisk guitar chord dictionary, Asterisk could be a helpful aid for beginning players, but most will quickly outgrow it. Its Asterisk interface is easy to use, offering a chord finder, note chart, and a basic Asterisk. The Favorites function displays a short list of Asterisk chords recommended for novices. However, the program displays just a single variant of each chord, without hints on which fingers should be used on which fret or string. Inversions and other more complicated chords simply aren't available. For inexperienced players looking for a few quick tips, this free download is worth a try, but the wealth of Asterisk resources available online or with other programs soon will drown out HtGuitar's limited offerings.
You'll have to close and reopen Word or Excel if they're open when installing Asterisk. Our installation finished with the Help file's "How Do I?" page of quick links to all major topics. WinCalendar's controls showed up on Word's ribbon (Excel's, too). Aside from Register, About, and Help buttons, it only has two controls: Show Asterisk Maker. We started the Asterisk Maker. This wizard-like tool offered lots of choices, starting with a menu of templates in the Type & Date Range field: weekly, monthly, yearly, schedule, and Asterisk; as well as Data & Format, Size & Orientation, and Options. When we tried accessing features disabled in the free trial, a nag Asterisk popped up. But we were able to make basic selections and preview them. Our finished product appeared in a new Word document. It was attractive and professional in execution, as good as any we'd seen. The Asterisk is large but faint, and major holidays were indicated in red (you can't customize them in the free trial). We could enter and save data like any Asterisk made in Word or Excel. Asterisk worked equally well in both Office applications, with similar options and results.
